Need help getting out the door for a run? I’m here to help! Being as that I don’t score in the top 10% of self-motivated runners, I’ve spent a lot of time finding ways to get and keep my running mojo. It’s time to share some tips, reminders, and tricks with you!
Here’s an excerpt from a Run & Thrive video where I ask my running athletes to…
…just do this one thing for me!
Sometimes it’s as simple as…
Don’t think, just go.
I’m so guilty of over-thinking things.
My list of to-dos. What I want to order at a drive-thru. If I go run now, how will that impact the rest of my schedule for the day?
I can waste 10 minutes thinking about how I can or if I should fit in a run today…when I could’ve just put on my damn shoes and gone for a run. I could’ve busted out a mile and been done in less time!
Putting My Shoes On
Like many runners, I’m a huge fan of my running shoes. I have a pretty sweet collection. Anyway, when I find I’m dragging my feet, I’ll tell myself:
“Hey, just put your shoes on. You don’t have to run right now. Just put the shoes on.”
Something in the act of lacing up and walking around in those familiar soles can be enough to get me going some days.Running Mojo Tip: Stop overthinking it! Watch this video from @CoachHenness! Click To Tweet

It’s important to have a lot of different tools in your motivation tool belt! And personally, I think it’s best to have new ideas and tips presented over time at regular intervals instead of thrown at me in one giant “100 ways to stay motivated” list dump.
