Originally posted October 2011. This was right before my 4th of 7 Rock N Roll Series races I ran in my quest for the Rock Legend Heavy Medal.
Fickle fate, right? How quickly my drive toward a goal, and thereby my emotional well-being, can fail when the carrot disappears. But then, WHAM! Luck is a lady after all and I’m back with a little less lacrimal fluid in the tear ducts perhaps but, revived nonetheless.
After hearing that my 7th event was cancelled I wasn’t looking forward to this weekend. Then, I spoke with a representative from Competitor Group and now I know that I have some great options that will allow me to continue in my pursuit of Rock Legend.
Now, I can focus on Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose with excitement again.
The last time I ran San Jose, my husband and I had an extra reason to finish as early as we possibly could. We’d invested in some good seats at Candlestick Park and needed to make the 1:00 PM kickoff.
So I ran my fastest half marathon that day and we enjoyed watching the San Francisco 49ers shut out the Rams.
This time I won’t have my husband eagerly pushing me to go faster so we make the game, although he will be there cheering me on. I remember loving the San Jose weather and course when I ran it before. I just hope it loves me back this Sunday.
