I’ve been busy, ya’ll. Not a lot of time for the ‘ol blog. But if you follow me on Instagram (which you should) you’ve seen some of the good stuff that’s been going on. Here’s a recap.
On November 3rd I left our hold home in Cali and drove through the night.
I arrived at our new home late on November 4th. 30+ acres in beautiful, green, Oregon!
This is my brother’s place. We’re renting out the basement. My brother and his family are very busy folks, currently remodeling their kitchen. It’s a family project.
I got a little taste of the Portland beer scene before J joined me Oregon. Tart or sour beers are a lot of fun. Apparently it’s a big thing in the NW.
On November 5th, I started my new job as a full time Asst Manager for Lorna Jane. Before our store opened, I kept a bunch of apparel in my living room. It was like I had a pop up shop right in my very own house.
I live about 20 minutes East of downtown Portland, which is way too long to wait to get coffee when I wake up. Fortunately, my brother’s office building is just down the hill from his house and they built a drive-thru that opens super early. I love Liz’s Coffee Cabin!
Those first 10 days in Oregon were pretty rough. The weather went from a nice, drizzly fall to a horribly frigid winter in the span of like 24 hours. I need better tires on my truck!
It was so bad that I had to cancel two work events and I got iced in one morning. I slipped and fell on my butt trying to walk to my car. I also need better shoes.
After 10 days of working in Oregon, I flew back to Cali for some sunshine, running, and wine. Check out my previous post for all the run details.
While back in Cali, I also finished up my women’s group. We had 9 weeks of workouts and study together, encouraging each other to see ourselves as God sees us, and it was very cool and a bit sad to wrap it up, say goodbye, and know that this chapter of my life is over.
I spent two days at home helping J and Moxie pack. Moxie had unpacked her crate bed while I was away so I spent one morning sewing it back together and re-stuffing it. Good times.
On November 18th, I flew back to Oregon to get our store ready for our launch party. We opened our doors on November 20th at Bridgeport Village in Tigard, Oregon.

We’re still waiting for some work to be finished at the store. The painting obviously isn’t done and our Active Living Room won’t be open for another month.
The good news is our shopping center has awesome food. Which helps because I didn’t have a refrigerator or anything to cook with at home until a few day sago. Kat’s Crepes is going to be one of my new favorite treats.
More good news: Lorna Jane sells some cold weather clothes! I treated myself to a new sweater and teddy bear fur lined vest last week.
I also bit the bullet and bought some serious boots. Timberland had a $20 off promo with free shipping so I’m going to try these bad boys out. I’ve always been a sucker for knee-high boots.
And what about Moxie? She’s adjusting to life here pretty well. She has 30+ acres to run around on and a new big brother…who is tolerating her antics pretty well. She wants Rueger to chase her and if he ignores her too long, she’ll bark at him or punch him or nip at him. When he’s had enough, he’ll put her in her place, though.
And that is where we are now. Just barely settled in, getting equipped for Oregon life, and almost to the point where we’re making plans for what’s next.
There are a ton of races I’m already eager to sign up for. Including my big bucket list race, the Mt Hood 50. It’s not until July but I’m afraid I need to make that a two year goal, not a 8 month goal. 🙂
WOW! that’s a lot of change. I’m so happy for you and your new gig! You are going to rock that position! Match made in heaven…you and lorna jane! We have a Lorna Jane here in STL and it’s the best!
Thanks, Katie!
Oregon will be fantastic and I’m excited for you to be running your own store – what an adventure!
Thanks, Sheena! I enjoy working in the retail store. I feel like it’s my home and I get to welcome guests in all day and get to know them. 😀
I was in my local Lorna Jane store here a few weeks ago, and I am so impressed by the clothing and the philosophy of LJ. I think it’s awesome that you are launching and will be heading this new store. Oregon is so beautiful — so much running to be done! I’m jealous! Glad you’re settled in and safe. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Thanks, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving as well!
I love Oregon. We kept our house, which is very close to Bridgeport Village. I actually was there when it first opened. We are just up Boones Ferry Road in Lake Oswego. So you never know when I might just pop in during an Oregon visit. So glad you got promoted at LJ. They are so lucky to have you. P.S. I also know Liz’s Coffee Cabin, as we used to stop there sometimes on our way to skiing. You will LOVE Oregon.
NO WAY! It would be unbelievably awesome to have you drop in the store sometime! How crazy that you have a house near Bridgeport Village. Haha!
So many changes for you but it looks like you are on a great life journey! A new job, close to family. Sounds great! Congrats on your new job at Lorna Jane! You must be stoked!
Congratulations on your move! So happy for you guys (+ Moxie!) for all the good things happening 🙂
