CrossFit community calls me back.

December 10, 2012 5 Comments

Over a week after my big race of the year, I’m finally getting back at it…CrossFit, that is. Nothing will ever replace running in my life, but CrossFit is a different kind of joy that I’m going to focus on in 2013.

For my first WOD back we did split jerks. I don’t remember what weight I did the last time split jerks was part of the workout. Tonight, I got up to 100 lbs…thanks to my pernicious helpful workout buddy, Matt.

Yup. Matt’s a riot. I think that’s one thing I love most about CrossFit – my super awesome workout buddies and inspiring coaches. While I am sad that the biggest race of my life (so far) has ended and is over, I am really excited to get back into the box and get to work.

The main reason for that is community. If you don’t have a fitness community like this, try to find one. If you’re not sure what I mean when I say my fitness community is great, I don’t know that I can explain it to you. I can show you if you come visit our box, though. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Actually, one thing that REALLY impressed me was THIS POST BY MY COACH that went up on our gym’s website the week after my race. Seriously, go there and read it. It’s short. I wasn’t expecting to see anything like this and it really impressed me how much attention our coaches give us and how much they think about our personal goals and journeys. THEY CARE even if they don’t agree that running a 50k sounds like fun or even a good idea. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is what I love about my CrossFit community. We have fun, we push each other, and there is a lot of heart. Getting back into the workout tonight has me all fired up!

SWEET!! I’m feeling the same way about getting back into the box. I’m happy that my marathon went well, and I’m chomping at the bit to get back into the box and start doing some big strength work. Sadly my physical therapist wants me taking it easy and going back in more slowly than I want to, but it’s all a process and will make me stronger in the end. So great to see your awesome lift! 100# overhead is awesome!!

After a 4 month break, I am getting back to the box next month and I am literally counting down the minutes.
