Well, hot damn, if it hasn’t been 4 years since the Mr. and I got married! J is a fabulous husband and we make a great team. I feel like our life adventures together are still just beginning and God knows what we’ll do or where we’ll go next.
Know how they say you continually learn something new about your spouse? Today I learned J doesn’t like hollandaise sauce.
So, 4 years, eh? When we got married we said we’d wait 4 years before talking about kids.
Well, we’ve decided we’re ready to [make plans to] grow our family…to include a dog. PUPPY! As far as human babies? I’d be happy to talk more about that later.
Words like “motherhood” and “parenthood” don’t scare me but they don’t excite me, either.Β Don’t get me wrong. I think becoming a parent and the miracle of growing a baby in your tummy is one of the many HOLY CRAP, HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? THAT’S AMAZING! things about life. But, for whatever reason, I was the never the girl who couldn’t wait to be a mom. If J & I do have a kid someday, I’m sure it’ll be every bit as cool as our mommy/daddy friends say it is.
You know what’s nice, though? Knowing that IF we happen to get preggers…I’m confident we could handle it. I’d freak out and then we’d adjust, but I know J would make a great dad and I know we’d rise to the challenge.
Anniversary Traditions
I was thinking J & I should start running a mile for every year we’ve been married on our anniversary. We’ve hit a number that is long enough for a decent run and have several years before it would become an all-morning event.
Do you have any health/fitness related anniversary traditions with your better half?
Aw, Happy anniversary! What a sweet post. My first time reading your blog. I like your running a mile for every year idea!! Congrats on the puppy!
Thanks Mar! Puppy is still on the table, up for discussion. But by the end of the year, we may be able to get one! π

Wow, I am just now putting together the last parts of my 1 year anniversary post with my hubby that’s this weekend! Crazy! AND I feel exactly the same as you! I have no desire to jump start the kiddie train just yet and want to enjoy life with my hubby whether it’s running together (now that his iankle injury is recovering) or if it’s just celebrating fun things just us two. Happy anniversary to you guys!
Thanks so much!!! Happy anniversary to you, too!
Happy Anniversary! What a great post. I am a FF ambassador too and found you mainly through Pavement Runner – love your blog and find you so inspiring! Congrats again on 4 years (we just hit 5 years) – think I might have to bring that running tradition into our current family of 2 too! Celebrate well. π
Thanks so much, Bonnie! I love that you guys run together, too. Further along in life we may have to switch to biking a mile for every year married. We’ll see. [o:
Happy Anniversary! 4 years that is great! Adrian and I were running partners before we got married-so we love any chance to run together! This year for our 5th anniversary we ran a race to celebrate! It was so much fun! Can’t wait to see pictures of your new puppy!
Happy Anniversary!
I think the mile for years married is a great idea! I’ll be married 6 years in September, so still manageable π
What kind of puppy are you thinking of getting? My stepson and I are going this weekend to the Super Pet Adoption Event at the La Brea tar pits just to see the different types of rescues that are out there and see what breed will be good for our family.
And I feel the same way about having kid! It’s not on my list of things to do, but if it happens then I’ll be happy.
Congrats on four years! That’s a great place to be- to not be chasing a baby but also know you could handle it if it happened. Enjoy the puppy!!
Congratulations! We just celebrated our 4th anniversary on April 25 π I’m like you and am in no hurry for babies…I’m enjoying just the two of us and our pup, Guinness!! You should totally get a dog…they add such a wonderful element to your life π Happy anniversary!
Happy Anniversary π We don’t have any traditions but the past couple years we’ve been in Boston running the marathon and this year we ran a 10 mile race on the the college campus where we met
I love the idea of running a mile together for every year you’re married! Happy four years!
