What is sports nutrition and why do you love it?
Sports nutrition is really about how to fuel your body to perform and RECOVER at it’s best. Food truly is FUEL and we can do so much with it if we focus in on what our body needs to race, train, recover, etc. My husband was a professional triathlete for 10 years, we learned from trial and error what worked and what didn’t. But most importantly, we learned that NUTRITION is key.
What is one nutrition lesson you’ve learned that has made a difference in your fitness?
REST. I mean not just a day, but a season. We all go through burnout and I’m a huge advocate that taking WEEKS off to reset can do wonders.
What are some gluten-free cooking staples in your kitchen?
Oh yes, we love jasmine rice, lentils, quinoa, eggs, all meats/eggs/fish, almond butters, and kefir yogurt. Let’s not forget fruits and veggies galore! Real food is easy because it’s gluten free (majority of the time).
What is your favorite endurance nutrition?
When should someone seek the help of a nutrition specialist?
Anytime! I say it’s great to be educated regardless!
