There is just so much fun run news to talk about this week! So I figured I’d wrap it all up in one post.
Running Stroller Pride
Okay, I saw this and had to share because this guy ran a half marathon in 1:11 while pushing his 11 month old daughter in a stroller.
Calum Neff not only won the race but set a world record. Boom.
Check out his GoPro mount! #goals
So yeah, that was a cool story but then I realized…I HAVE THAT STROLLER!
I won a Thule Urban Glide from willrun4icecream.com last year right after I found out I was pregnant. It’s sitting around, just as expectantly as I am, eagerly awaiting the day when we can hit the pavement together with my little one (who is squirming around in my belly right now somewhat awkwardly).
Needless to say I’m now EVEN MORE excited to use it later this year, not that I can run as fast as Neff (even without a stroller)…but it’s cool to know my stroller could go that fast…you know…because.
Nuun’s New Formula
I knew this was coming. It’s finally here. My favorite hydration beverage has changed it’s formulation! Nuun Active & Nuun Energy products are now third party certified Gluten Free, Vegan, and Clean Sport (meaning they officially contain no banned substances for competitive athletes). Nuun is now a more earth and sport friendly product!
Wait…that means they changed something?! Yes. For example, each serving of Nuun Active or Nuun Energy now has 1 whole gram of sugar! Why? Apparently binding electrolytes with a non-gmo dextrose (sugar) makes them absorb faster. It’s a tiny change with a big performance improvement. Also they have plant-based caffeine (green tea extract) for their Energy line and use things like avocado oil to produce their tablets.
I’ve ordered my new formula Nuun and when it arrives I’ll be reporting on whether or not I notice any differences. I know the new monk fruit/stevia extract sweeteners have given me some concerns. However, the official Nuun mixologists are assuring us it’s still the same, lightly flavored product we love.
PRO TIP: While supplies last, the old formula Nuun is on sale so….
Island Boost Discount
Get a 10 Pack of Island Boost for $19.99 (normally $25.75).
Ruh roh! Looks like Island Boost’s new package design fell victim to a factory error in production. Good news is, they’re not going to destroy perfectly good product. That would be stupid. Instead, they’re selling them off at a great discount! Check it out.
What is Island Boost? It’s my favorite long run fuel! It’s liquid and so much easier to take than a thick gel or gu AND delivers energy to the body faster. You should definitely try it.
There was once a time when my Bia Sport Watch was my solo-running safety device. That product is no longer operational, however. I need a solution.
Enter Run Raegis. Yes, it’s mobile running app and it shows your basic stats (avg pace, distance, overall time, etc). However, it also has a giant PANIC button I can easily access to notify my preset contacts of trouble.
Run Raegis is SMART. Before I go for a run, I can set an alert to go out to my husband if I’m not back by a certain time. So God-forbid something happened and I WASN’T able to hit the panic button, an alert would still go out. This is huge because my husband may not realize I’m not home until he gets home from work, which could be half a day later.
Also, I can set up a courtesy heads up to my husband that I’ve started a run or ended a run and a link to a ping of my location. So if he DOES get a panic alert, he’ll already know where I’m at, roughly.
While the basic PANIC button feature is free when you download the app, the other features I mentioned are Premiums available for $4.99/month to $24.99/year .

Good news is that both TigerTrailUSA and Endorphin Warrior are onboard to provide special discounts just for Run & Thrive Members. I’m working on more partnerships like this so that the benefits of joining this membership community are well worth the $4.99 per month fee.
